In 1995, the Goddess of Liberty gave a profound yet simple teaching to expand the threefold flame after balancing it. She said that there are no limits to its expansion unless one limits their devotion to the power, wisdom, and love of God, or limits their love for the Divine Mother.

The ascended masters have offered abundant guidance on the path to balancing the flame of the heart, gradually expanding it, and using its impressive light to serve a larger global community. They teach that once it is in balance, the threefold flame will gradually increase in increments of one and a half to three millimeters, and so on, until it reaches two and a half centimeters. They assert that there is such formidable power in a threefold flame that is two and a half centimeters tall, that it can bring about enormous changes in our neighborhood, region, and nation.

According to the ascended masters, an expanded threefold flame is also necessary to overcome the personal initiations required in the union with the Holy Christ Self. Each of us has the opportunity to become a living Christ and a world server, as were Jesus, Gautama Buddha, and other great masters. Advanced progress on the spiritual path leads to levels of consciousness where the service, sacrifice, selflessness, and renunciation embodied by these avatars occur naturally.

The Holy Lord has spoken about the natural evolution of a soul that leads to the desire to expand the threefold flame, expressing it in these terms:

There comes a time when the Holy Spirit approaches you, for you have cried out for that Spirit […]. You know the pain of the world and the Holy Spirit and your own heart; and you are not satisfied that the threefold flame in the chamber of your heart is only one and a half millimeters tall. You wish it were six, twelve millimeters, or even two and a half centimeters!
